It's a boy!

Today Jeremy and I went for our second ultrasound and found out that we were having a little boy! Right now I'm right at 20 weeks, and according to the ultrasound technician, everything is looking great with our little boy! He definitely is active; he's moving around quite a lot already! Here are the ultrasound pictures that were taken today:

The baby's face is on the right side in this picture.

The baby is touching his elbow to his knee in this picture.

The baby is balling his hand into a fist and putting it up near his face.

Side picture of the baby, you can see his spinal cord on the bottom. He's laying down, back facing my spinal cord.

Another side picture of the baby.

The baby's foot.

Yep, it's quite obvious it's a little boy!

Another obvious picture of our little boy!

Sad Day

Tucker has left us to go chase rabbits up in doggie heaven. He somehow managed to damage his back, either with a herniated or slipped disk, most likely due to degenerative disc disease. On Saturday we noticed him acting different, kind of like he had the doggie flu, he was shaking but panting at the same time, lethargic, and acting like his joints hurt him. He got worse on Sunday, and they gave us pain meds and told him to get cage rest, but that didn't help. He got really bad on Monday, suffering nerve damage, not being able to walk or to use the bathroom. It pained us to see him like this. Instead of going through with surgery, we opted to have him put to sleep. With surgery he would probably still have some pain, not gain a 100% recovery, and he would have to stop doing everything he loved to do (whether we loved those things or not!). He passed away in his Mommy's arms being loved and petted, one of his favorite places to be. We buried him out back with his toys, his beloved Gator amongst them. He is really going to missed.

We love you Tucker, and I'm sorry you didn't get to see your new brother/sister in person, but I know you'll be looking down on them from heaven.

Doctor visit 12-03-07

I went in for my third prenatal checkup on Monday, and everything is going alright! I am now 18 weeks pregnant, and have gained 13 pounds! The baby was very active, the doctor had to chase it with the dopplar because it kept moving around so much. The heartbeat sounded even stronger and louder this visit. Our next ultrasound is scheduled for the 18th of December and that's when we find out if it's going to be a girl or a boy! We're both excited. Jeremy wants everyone to think boy thoughts. He's not too happy with all the people swearing it's going to be a girl. I even had a stranger come up to me and say that it's going to be a girl! I really don't care one way or the other, everyone knows that Jeremy's going to dress it up in camo and teach it to hunt and fish regardless :o)

This visit was also my first visit with my new OB/GYN. The last practice was not working out, I was having one doctor tell me one thing at my first visit, and then another doctor tell me the total opposite the next visit. They were documenting things wrong in my chart, and Jeremy and I both were upset and not happy with my previous doctor's office. I now switched to a doctor who is extremely close to home and work, and will be delivering at Obici hospital 10 minutes away from our new house, and 3 stoplights away from my new work! The other doctor was wanting to have me deliver all the way in downtown Norfolk (a 30-40 minute drive without tunnel traffic)! My first impression of my new doctor was a very good one, and he made me feel more at ease. They also provide 3D ultrasound for the later ultrasounds, so stay tuned!

We're Engaged!

On the weekend of November 16th-18th Jeremy and Beth went on their annual "let's be crazy and freeze our butts off" camping trip at Natural Bridge, Virginia and that's when Jeremy 'popped' the question to Beth! At the campfire that Saturday night, while making Beth wait forever to eat smores because the fire had to burn down and be 'just perfect' for smore making, Jeremy got down on one knee and proposed :o) After the shock and the 'nu-uh...this isn't really happening' Beth said yes!

Baby Brant (aka the Teletubbie)

These are the first ultrasound pictures, and our first time seeing our new baby! They were taken on September 29, 2007. Jeremy said it resembled a Teletubbie. Guys....

The future parents!

The future 'sister!'

Kinja is our 4 year old gray cat. She was rescued from Cat Rescue by Jeremy a year after he moved to Virginia. She is a very happy, loving cat who has a sweet temperament and a passion for bugs, birds, and sparkly things. We hope that Kinja will adjust and learn to love the baby!

The future 'brother!'

This is our dog, Tucker. He's a 4 year old beagle that Beth adopted in Grad school at JMU. He is adorable but has quite a personality. We're hoping he'll love having a little one as part of the family!
